As we head into the summer season in Davidson, we are reminded why we love it so much here. Part of the draw of visitors and locals is that we are part of the Lake Norman community. Sitting along the shores of the state’s largest man-made lake, the best way to enjoy the area is right on the water. Even if you don’t have a boat, you can still enjoy the lake at one of the unique parks in the area: Ramsey Creek Park. Spend the day playing at the beach area, walking the trails, playing at the dog park or at the park’s newest feature, the playground. We are just a week away from Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy nature at Ramsey Creek Park

Ramsey Creek Park is 43.7 acres on the waterfront. Here at the park, you can enjoy the 1.5 miles of walking trails which take you winding through the green lakefront land. Picnic areas throughout the park make for great places to sit down and enjoy a meal in the peace and quiet of nature while soaking up the gorgeous views.

Boating

Ramsey Creek Park is one of the only places in Mecklenburg County to get your rig on the water. There are no rentals available at the park, but there is plenty of parking so you can tow your boat here. The water levels at the launch are notoriously low so take caution when lowering your vessel into the water.

Fishing

Ramsey Creek Park has a proper fishing pier perfect for whatever kind of angling you’d like to do. Don’t forget to pick up your North Carolina Fishing License before heading to the park where you can look forward to catching catfish, crappie, largemouth bass and striped bass from right off the pier or one of the docks.

Ramsey Creek Park Beach

Opening on May 20th for the season, is the only beach area in the county! Ramsey Creek Park’s beach is the perfect spot for a hot summer day. Visitors can now swim at the park’s beach with the safety of lifeguards on duty. The park offers sunbrella rentals as well as picnic pavilions for a shady lunch at the beach. The beach area is open from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm. Upon entering the park, a $5.00 fee is charged per vehicle Monday through Thursday, and then $10.00 per vehicle Friday through Sunday for county residents. A shuttle is available to pick up in Huntersville on the weekends and holidays, running every 15 minutes from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Recreation

Ramsey Creek Park is the perfect place for some outdoor fun with the children. The park is home to a unique playground for kids to run around on, and there’s a popular unique swing that is all the rage among the kids. There is also a volleyball court, a horseshoe pit, and a dog park. The 4-acres of fenced in dog park is a great spot for your furry friend to run, play, and get energy out. This is one of the areas only leash-free dog parks making it a very popular destination for dog owners. The park is also home to 3 picnic shelters perfect for parties and family gatherings
