An Evening at the Theater for Adults only
The Davidson Village Inn would like to invite you for an evening of laughs with two tickets to NOISES OFF being performed just across the street on the campus of Davidson College. The play follows the trials and tribulations of a malady-riddled traveling theatre group in Great Britain. The wonderful convention is that the set revolves so that you see performances of the same play from both the audience's point of view as well as from back stage. That's where the laughs begin. This is the last week of the show being held at the Duke Family performance hall. Book a room at the Inn now and we'll throw in two tickets for the show for one low price of $149 + tax. Friday or Saturday night at the movies! In case you haven't noticed Davidson is home to one of the more unusual movie theatres in our area. Our Town Cinemas is a locally owned business tucked into Sadler Square Shopping Center just across the railroad tracks from downtown. Movies are shown in four small theatres with an atmosphere more like a dinner theatre where you can order hamburgers, hotdogs or Brickhouse Tavern pizzas from the concession stand, along with a great selection of beer & wine. Sit in one of their adjustable seats with bistro tables and watch one of the first run movies on the program. On any Friday or Saturday night in August (except for the 20th & 21st) we're offering a great package for movie lovers that includes transportation to the movie theater in the Inn's Pedicab, movie tickets for two, and a special gift on your pillow when you come back to spend the night at the Inn. Pedicab rides are based on availability of Innkeeper, the Pedicab driver :) ______________________________________________________ Concerts on the Green move to a new day Our popular Concerts on the Green series returns this year but with a change. Except for a couple of dates all the concerts will be on Friday nights. Our next concert is set for Friday, August 13th with the pop/rock sounds of "Pushh". The Davidson Village Inn is a sponsor for this concert so we'll be joining you with your dancing shoes on!
Our downtown has some very unique shops and eateries, here a sampling of places to visit: Summit Coffee was voted the best college hang out recently, be sure to try some of their specialty blends or their great beer & wine selection. Two restaurants right next door to the Inn, Bucci's offer a mostly northern Italian menu and Bonsai Asian Grill has great sushi plus lots more. Down on South Main Street in the arts district you'll find the eclectic Restaurant X right next door to Fuel Pizza. The newest eatery in town is in the old ice plant, also in the arts district, Campania Cafe & Italian Gourmet Market. To catch your favorite game or choose from one of 50 draft beers, head over to the Brickhouse Tavern in the old cotton mill. For lakeside dining try the North Harbor Club. The two newest restaurants in town are The Egg at Davidson Cafe in Sadler Square and Toast Cafe on Main St. Don't forget about our favorite place for ice cream, Ben & Jerry's. We also have one of the area's finest collections of functional fine art at The Wooden Stone. How about a family owned gift shop that's been around for over 40yrs, The Village Store. However, with only 18 rooms we often fill up quickly, so here's an update on some of our upcoming major events:
Freshman Orientation - August 18th & 19th, 2010 (no rooms available, see below for information about our wait list) Family Weekend - October 29th & 30th, 2010 (no reservations accepted, see information below about our lottery) Homecoming Weekend - November 12th & 13th, 2010 (no rooms available, see below for information about our wait list) Graduation Weekend - May 14th & 15th, 2011 (no reservations accepted, see information below about our lottery) Reunion Weekend - June 3rd & 4th, 2011 (no rooms available, see below for information about our wait list) Lottery - Reservations for Graduation and Family weekends are filled by using a lottery. If you would like to add your name to the lottery just email us with your name, contact information and your child's graduating class. Each time you stay at the Inn you will automatically receive an additional entry in the lottery. Lottery winners will be notified approximately two to three months in advance of the event. Wait list -If you would like to be added to our wait list you can email us with the dates you are interested in and we'll contact you if rooms become available. Remember, we don't overbook at the Inn, so we use our wait list on a regular basis. We offer gift certificates that can be tailored to your liking.
