You Need to Explore These 7 Lake Norman Biking Trails

Davidson, North Carolina, is home to many attractions and activities. Boating, paddleboarding, museums, Davidson College, festivals, hiking—you’ll find all of these and more around our charming town. Biking around Lake Norman is one of our favorite things to do on a warm morning or afternoon. There are over two dozen miles of trails weaving through the park with a mix of hills, switchbacks, and waterfront views. Our Favorite Lake Norman Biking Trails

Hawk Loop

Hawk Loop winds through Lake Norman State Park. One of the best parts about this 2.7-mile single track Lake Norman biking is that you can easily access Hicks Creek Loop and Norwood Loop if you feel like extending your bike ride.

Monbo

The twists and turns of Monbo’s 6-mile loop make this a fun and easy course for beginners. Many riders prefer taking on this Lake Norman biking trail riding in the clockwise direction, but either way is great for a mid-afternoon spin.

Norwood Loop

The Norwood Loop is a 3.1-mile trail with a built-in pump jump. This trail reverses every year, offering great views of the lake. Bikers can access this moderately tricky trail from Hawk Loop.

Laurel Loop

One of the longest of the trails in Lake Norman State Park is the Laurel Loop. This intermediate, 9.75-mile path offers bikers steep climbs and switchbacks. You can also access the Fallstown Loop and Fox Loop from this trail.

Hicks Creek Loop

Riders looking for a little bit of a challenge will enjoy the Hicks Creek Loop. This Lake Norman biking trail is relatively easy throughout the course but features a small climb at the end. The 2nd half of the loop is a smoother ride but has tight turns.

Fox Loop

The Fox Loop trail in Lake Norman State Park features several fast breakaways, including a specially designed gully run. Bikers love this area’s rugged terrain. You can also access this 2.5-mile path off of the Wildlife Loop.

Wildlife Loop

The Wildlife Loop is one of the longer biking trails around Lake Norman. It is accessible through Laurel Loop has a fun and exciting halfpipe that experienced riders will love testing their skills on during a spin. This intermediate 3.6-mile path has a few jumps and other challenges, so make sure you watch your speed.
