Start your day off on the trails at the Uwharrie National Forest.

Once you arrive in the Uwharrie National Forest, the views are simply breathtaking. The area is home to over 50 miles of trails. The Uwharrie National Forest trail map is a great place to begin if you’re looking to hit the trails. Hikers looking for a challenge should check out the Dutchman’s Creek Trail. With steep inclines and a moderate terrain, this 18.4-mile loop is quite the challenge. Dogs are welcome on a leash on this trail. Another great trail is the singletrack, 20-mile Uwharrie National Recreation Trail. The trail is hilly with lots of streams to pass by. If you want a shorter hike, there are 3 trailheads that can be used to access the trail.

The water recreation at the Uwharrie National Forest ranges from swimming and fishing to hunting for a nugget of gold. The Uwharrie National Forest is close to the original site where gold was first found in the US. Find your way to Badin Lake Recreation Area for hours of fun splashing around in the water. Bring a picnic as there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy a picnic lunch. During your visit to the recreation area, there are opportunities to see boaters, bikers, horses, hikers, campers, and swimmers.
