On your stroll through the gardens at Wing Haven, you’ll see birdbaths and fountains, a variety of plants, and lots and lots of bricks.  350,000 bricks to be exact! It took many, many years to acquire that many bricks to line the walls and paths but it is a sight to see for sure! You’ll feel at peace in Elizabeth’s garden. It is a much-needed space to escape the everyday hustle and bustle.

Elizabeth Lawrence House and Garden

Listed on the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic places, the Elizabeth Lawrence House and Garden is a must-see place to visit. The home is named for Elizabeth Lawrence who is an internationally known garden writer.  The house is a living laboratory which houses a variety of plant life. There is something in bloom every day and during every season. The paths at the house have been restored and signage has been placed in the garden. You’ll also want to see the beautiful pool and entry gate. The Elizabeth Lawrence House and Gardens are located within walking distance of Wing Haven at just 10 doors down.

If you are looking to visit these historic properties, they offer self-guided tours from Wednesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $10.00 for adults and ages 10 and under are admitted free. Kids will love playing in the children’s garden. The area offers places to dig, explore, and water the plants in addition to the roaming chickens and flying butterflies.

Upcoming events happening at Wing Haven Gardens!

The spring season in Charlotte brings on many fun events to keep your eye out for at Wing Haven. All members of the family will enjoy Storytime, Backyard Gardening Workshops, the Spring Plant Sale, Tea Time in the Garden, and the Gardener’s Garden Tour. Yogis will also love their yoga classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 9:30 am. What better time to experience Wing Haven than at camp.  Camp Wing Haven is offered to rising 1st graders to rising 5th graders. This hands-on camp is ideal for your little nature enthusiast.
